Jan Wessel

Born in Skanderborg Denmark 1952, Jan Wessel's artistic universe meets the wandering with the picturesque, the playful with the thoughtful, and the solemn with the dramatic. Jan Wessel is working with forms of expression such as painting, lightboxes, collage, monotypes, lithography, assemblage and installation. In various exhibitions some of his art might seem familiar, perhaps for some flashback to something previously experienced and forgotten, yet deeply buried in consciousness. Numerous associations and references are linked in Jan Wessel’s pictorial space, which represents an entanglement of life. It can be lived as contrasting beauty and transience, or different motifs forming a characteristic imagery. Jan Wessel has exhibited at fairs and galleries in Germany, Japan, England, Belgium, Norway, Sweden and Denmark. He is represented at various museums and foundations in Denmark.
